These sound wonderful. My husband cooks for the dog, never for me (not sure I would eat his cooking, to be fair). He would love to make these, if you could clear up a little transatlantic vocabulary confusion. Although he is British (and even lived in Suffolk for some time!), he is not – as I said, much of a cook!

So – by “oatmeal”, do you mean what I might call oat flour? “Oatmeal” here in N. America refers to what I think you would call porridge. The second ingredient being “oats” made that even more confusing: rolled oats? Steel cut oats?

Great blog – I’m a thermomix newbie and always looking for inspiration.

Hi Bette,

I used both oats (you refer to this as oatmeal) we get two sizes a regular rolled oats and then a jumbo oats and what I call oatmeal you call oat flour.
You need both otherwise the biscuits are too fragile.

Oh, what very sweet pups. However, they bring to mind the childhood of my little girl, Molly, an Irish Wolfhound. Her chewing stage was one of the most expensive periods of our lives as she set about crunching her way through hoses, hose fittings, riding boots, rubber boots, work boots, 4 different sets of bedding (she ended up spending that winter sleeping on newspaper), outdoor furniture etc., – a very trying time indeed and one I’m surprised my marriage survived!

I am going to make these biscuits but am confused as to the oats, I have jumbo rolled oats, what is oatmeal , porridge oats ??

HI Lynette,

Oatmeal is very fine oats. I Buy it from out dry store suppliers however you can purchase it from most health food stores or online https://www.healthysupplies.co.uk/fine-oatmeal-infinity-500g.html
If I’m out of oatmeal I blend normal oats in the Thermomix, it’s the same texture.
If you cannot do any of my suggestions then buy the basic rolled oats from the supermarket, value range will do just as well.
